Summative Project Plan

For your summative composition, you are to create an expressive / emotional self portrait that depicts a theme of your choice.
Process:
  1. After choosing your theme, you will need to decide whether to use the grid method or draw your portrait free hand.
  2. If using the grid, use a photo of yourself (Snapchat, Facebook, Photobooth, etc) but consider pose and expression to depict your theme.
  3. Grid out your image using a 1 or 2 inch grid.  Then, lightly draw a grid on your drawing paper using cross multiplication to find the proportion of the enlarged grid from your photo.
  4. Begin drawing the contours of the photo from each square.  Focus on drawing only what you see from one square at a time.
  5. Lastly, follow the same process from step 4 when adding color and value.  Focus on only the values you see in one square at a time.  Assign one color per value / gray tone.
