Crimson Hour

Overview: The purpose of Crimson Hour is to provide a meaningful academic opportunity for students during collaborative time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  All staff members are responsible for creating an environment that is conducive for learning. Students will utilize Crimson Hour to complete homework, study, receive additional time and support, assess / reassess, or engage in silent sustained reading.  For students enrolled in art classes, teachers and classrooms are available on Thursdays during Crimson Hour.  Only students who are either currently enrolled in art classes or students who have successfully completed the prerequisite Art classes, A,B, or C, are able to attend Art related Crimson Hour sessions.  Students who are not currently enrolled in an art class or have not had any previous art prerequisite need to obtain permission from the instructor to attend the Art related Crimson Hour session.   Students will either work quietly in their assigned classroom on academics or silent sustained reading. In addition, students will have the opportunity to: utilize the cafeteria for group work, assess / reassess in the testing center, utilize resources in the media center, and receive additional academic support and reassessment opportunities from their teachers.
