From where do artists gather inspiration? How can nostalgia drive creativity for a new narrative in art?
For this drawing challenge, I would like you to draw from your imagination in your own technical style. Create an illustration based off a character, characters, or subject matter from your childhood, or something that represents popular culture for you now, that depicts a never-been-seen-before narrative.
Project Requirements:
Character / Characters are manipulated and changed to best fit your own style. Should not be copied from originals
Some sort of scene should be drawn. (landscape, urban, fantasy, etc)
Color is preferred, but must at least be inked
The composition should visually "tell a story" (figurative, metaphorical)
Composition needs to be unified and finished. Visually, aesthetically resolved.
Pick a character or characters that were dear to your heart as a child, or still are and create a new narrative. Something we never knew about them before!
Or, create a parody of an artwork from history and tell a new narrative. Consider the current times we live in as a theme.
